Bethany's Quilt

After finding out I was carrying a girl, I rushed to the store to pick out Bethany's fabric.  The bird cage fabric immediately was in my hands!   Anna-Kate was there helping me, and the peacock fabric was in her hands immediately!  The rest came together after that. I am in love with the colors!  I struggled to get on the floor and do the trimming that is required after it is quilted, before the final stage of binding.  So, I finished all but the binding while pregnant.  Then I finished her quilt when she was 4 or 5 months.

I finally took pictures when she was about 8 months old.

The big kids wanted their picture taken too, and this quickly became a favorite!

With the quilt fabrics picked out, we chose a pink crib sheet.  Then, a friend from church was selling that picture.  It matches the colors perfectly!  It has the pinks, the blues, even the golds!  I jumped immediately to buy it from her!  Because this is going to be her room (we will turn the crib into a bed when she is ready for a "big girl bed"), I have given myself freedom to slowly put her room together.

This weekend, as a first birthday present, we picked out this night stand.  I am in love with it's feminine lines and that it adds some more color to the room.  The crib as a bed will definitely be a bulky piece of furniture, so I think the color will also be a good contrast.

Bethie, your room may be taking a long time to finish, but it has been a favorite to piece together!

11 Months Old

Well Bethie girl, it has happened.  You are officially one month from your birthday!  We could not enjoy you in our world more!!

You crawl anywhere and everywhere.  You are quite independent, crawling from one room to the next with little noise or care of where we are.  You pulled up to standing 3 days after you turned 11 months.  You will stand if I hold you up but don't show a lot of interest yet in walking or standing.

I have decided I am allowed to claim "Mama" as your first word!  "Dada" is your second word.  And, though, it is pretty much only decipherable to me, you have a consistent word for dog, "do'."  You also excitedly say, "woo' woo' " when Gladys barks.

You had your last dream feed as you turned 11 months.  You have increased how much solids you are eating that you didn't seem to miss the dream feed at all.  You passed wheat this month and then baked in eggs, the first of the bigs.  So far, you love everything you have tried!  But, bread is your standout favorite!

You still nap 2 times a day.  You sleep 12 hours at night.  You have 6 teeth now.  You are drooling like you are cutting another tooth, but I can't see where yet.

You love your siblings.  You aren't interested in the TV yet.  You like to play with the dog food bowls, the open dishwasher, in the cabinets more than you enjoy your actual toys.  You do, however, love when you get to play in the basement with your siblings.  You are independent, generally content, cuddly, and just wonderfully ours!

Then and Now

2 months old

10 months old

At 2 months, this was our Bethie girl getting her supplemental breast milk bottles.
At 10 months, this is her, again in her daddy's arms, getting her evening bottle.

I love the pinkie grab!
And, I love the picture that shows how she either takes her bottle or sucks her thumb while also grabbing her hair.

Baby's First Snow

January's snow was Bethany's first snow!

She loved the few minutes I let her spend outside.  Well, until she put it in her mouth.  She made a funny face at how cold it was!

at 10 months

As Bethany gets older, it is fun to see her personality start to come out!
She loves being a big kid at the table eating with us!

This picture absolutely makes me laugh!

Just chillin' on the couch in the preschool lobby

9.5 - 10.5 months old brought lots of visits to the doctor!  2 ear infections for our girl!

Once she is done scattering toys, it is time to move on to playing with the tower of formula

Anna-Kate loves that she can pick up her sister.  Not well, but it works!

That hair.

The last days of the dream feed.
Those sweet big, innocent eyes

This girl and the vacuum.
Her legs shake.  She squeals with excitement.
She loves the vacuum!

As 10 months turned to 11, Bethany tasted and loved her first french fry!
