Daddy's Girl

"Daddy's Girl" is so true! Everyday when we are about 2 miles from our house, returning after watching MK, Anna-Kate says, "Daddy! Daddy! ... Home!" At least three times a day, out of the blue, she will say, "Daddy...work." When Will walks in the door after work, she lights up.
She loves her daddy. He has the patience to sit for so long looking at the same books or the same blocks. My daddy teaches me things...
...sometimes I teach him things too.
And, Daddy is just plain fun!

the Mall!

Anna-Kate, what do you want to do today?
Mall? Mall! Mall!
True story. My little girl already loves going to the mall. I am loving this sweet age where we can go to the mall, and I still get to choose what we buy!

Reading Rainbow

I love how much my girls love books!

Wednesday

Some days I take lots of pictures and the blog-story is already in my head. Other days I take a picture when something cute is going on. Some days I realize I haven't touched my camera in too many days, and I should just take a picture of what is normal. These pictures are a mixture of the last two.

Sharing this well normally takes coaching and is short-lived. But when it does happen, it is priceless!
Both girls love playing at their kitchens these days. As long as the other is not trying to cook with the same pot, or open the same door, or stir with the same spoon, sharing the kitchen goes pretty well. (Which we all know means part of the time they share well, part of the time I am coach and referee.)
Mary-Kathryn and I both know that our girls need to be getting better at eating with a fork and spoon. Here is the practice caught:

Not great at it yet, but they are getting better!

Anna-Kate-isms

Anna-Kate's vocabulary is picking up like crazy. Soon, Will and I should get the video camera out and see if she will say some of our favorites for the camera. (not that they read as cute as hearing them but...) Here are a few of my recent favorites:

Memega : translation "bubblegum" - She is taking bubblegum medicine for an infected finger right now.
Daredago: translation "there you go" or "thank you" - When you hand her something she asks for, most of the time she says this instead of her version of thank you.
Wearit!: translation "bracelet" - This one has to be spelled with an exclamation point because it is always said emphatically with an implied "put it on me please!"
Manos: translation "Mary-Knowles" - I love that she is finally saying MK's name!
nAfthryn: translation "Mary-Kathryn"
Yonyon! : translation "yogurt-covered raisins" - This is another that is always said emphatically. If you didn't know she meant raisins, you would think it translated "onions."

Lulya : translation "Love you" - Who can beat this one?!

Telling on Mom and Dad

Kids get to an age where they can start telling on their mom and dad; I didn't realize that age was one and a half! We had friends over for dinner last night. Listen to what happened at the end of dinner:

Anna-Kate finished her supper (aka, didn't want to eat that anymore). She looked at Will and very sweetly said, "Cake?"
Will answers, "We don't have any cake."
Anna-Kate then immediately requests, "Pie?"
Laughing, "No, Anna-Kate we don't have any pie either."

Will and I laughed. We allow Anna-Kate a well-monitored amount of sweets, but not enough that she would think if there is no cake there must be pie! haha!

Shopping

Anna-Kate's newest love is going shopping! She got this a-ma-zing shopping cart for Christmas, as well as the baby doll and the food. I put the food in groups on the coffee table. She then likes to go "shopping." After she shops she normally makes at least 5 laps around our downstairs with her purchases.
Makes sense then that shopping makes you thirsty!

Pushing the stroller or the shopping cart is a favorite of both Mary-Knowles and Anna-Kate. The last couple days a favorite activity when we are stir crazy is to push the stroller and cart down the hall way (sorry MK's neighbors ;).

Yesterday when we made our [almost] daily trip to the clubhouse for my coffee, this was how we made the trek.
The girls pushed their lovies on the journey. What was funny was that they have never been more focused on the walk to coffee!

My elevator experts

I love this picture of the girls! They both have sincere, sweet, happy smiles!

AK's Resolution

Anna-Kate's New Year Resolution: Convince Mom and Dad to let her have a pet!
(Ignore, please, that AK is clearly ready to go out and her hair has not been addressed at all.) AK got this zhu zhu pet from her cousins, and she loves it!
Look! Aren't dogs so fun?!
Anna-Kate got this dog a little while ago, but just this week she really got the hang of how to "take it for a walk." She loves that it barks while it walks!
Anna-Kate still shows a love of animals. Getting a pet....not yet AK! One day, maybe.
