First Highchair Moments

This girl and her grin

We still haven't started food yet,

but she is so happy to be joining us at the dinner table now!

This was her first restaurant highchair experience;

you can tell she felt so big!

Look at me now!

Pay It Forward

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Since leaving the hospital, I have wanted to go back with Anna-Kate.  I wanted to thank the nurses, and I wanted to donate some toys to the Child Life stash.  We had so much fun going to Target and picking out toys kids might enjoy if they had to be in the hospital.  We talked about how even in hard situations, there are aspects that make it easier, that bring us comfort.  We can use what brought us comfort to bring others comfort.

Anna-Kate seemed to really get that idea!  The sticker books, movies, doll, crafts/activity books, ... were absolutely what made the hospital do-able for her!

It was also cathartic, probably mostly for me, to see healthy Anna-Kate in the same setting that we lived through back in June.

Cousins, Miller style!

Jax Watson Miller is here!!
21 August, 2015

This past weekend Amanda and I, with Bethany in tow, headed to DC to visit Walter and Heather and to meet Jax!!  What a sweet little guy!  It was so great to see cousins together, trade parenting notes, and have some Miller sibling time in a nice, quieter-than-normal way!

6 Months

Weight - 15lbs, 5oz - 32%
Height - 26in - 50%

Bethie girl, you have a smile that lights up the room!  You are content in most situations.  You grin so quickly at your brother and sister.  You are so quick to grin, but we have to work a bit harder to get you to laugh.  When you do, though, it is infectious!  You laugh and the whole room laughs with you!
You love playing on the floor.  You roll over immediately.  You are moving around, never long where we lay you down.  You aren't crawling yet, but it is coming!  You swivel side to side.  You go backward.  Before long, you will put all the moves together and be moving forward.
You can sit but not for long.  I mostly let you practice sitting in the middle of the boppy.  I can grab the camera that way and be more trusting of the audience you always have around you - brother, sister, and dog!

You sleep two naps a day.  I think you have given up the third nap, except maybe a rare day.  You have been sleeping through the night for about a week and half now.  You will only cat nap in your car seat, so gone are the days of full mornings running errands with you napping.

Eating...I will give a full update soon.  But, this month brought the end of breastfeeding.  You get 5 bottles a day at 7:30, 11:30, 4, 7, and 9:45.  (6oz each, except the last which is only 4 oz)  The full story will have to come later, because we are still living it.  You are currently on the hypoallergenic formula Elecare, but your system doesn't seem to like it either.  Off to the GI in less than two weeks to let them weigh in on what formula will be best.  Because of this, you still have not had any food.

The victory....on Elecare, you have gained weight!  You gained enough weight to even go back up on the percentile chart some!  Well, baby girl, that did this mama's heart good.  Because of that, I can wait a bit more patiently to talk with the GI doc.

Bethie girl, you are so loved!  Your easy grin.  The way you hold the hand of the one feeding you your bottle.  The simple way you entertain yourself so often.  Your sweet laugh.  The way you cuddle close.  How you grin while ducking your head, almost shyly, definitely endearingly.  6 months with you has been my pleasure!
