38 Weeks

Today is 38 weeks! I can not believe that there is two weeks until our daughter is due. I also can not believe the crazy things that have happened during this 38th week:

- last night Will defended his thesis. It was great to see him so confidently present. My man is so brilliant. I liked being able to watch him at the area of his life. With the thesis done, all that is left is to graduate next week.

- Saturday we made an offer a house! Sunday, they countered. Sunday we quickly accepted! We have now gotten things started with the bank and set up the inspection. Our house is beautiful! More than we expected God to provide. On June 8, we will close. By June 13, Will will walk his wife and his daughter into our first home. I can't wait to post the family picture in front of the house!

37 Weeks

I am full term! Will and I struggle to believe that we are now less than 3 weeks away from our daughter's due date! The doctor says that everything looks great. Next week the doctor will start checking my progress.

Even though the doctor says everything is great; there might be other truths to consider. For example, I am hiding in my picture (on purpose) my right and crazy-swollen foot. Also, my daughter can not stop eating, and what she wants every morning is a Chic-Fil-A chicken biscuit. I have only given in a few times. :) I now get more and more comments from strangers, like "you can't have much longer," or "are you having twins?," or "do you want chocolate?," or - and the comments keep coming.

Life Update

One of my and Will's favorite thing to do when the weather and time allows is to go for a walk in downtown Raleigh. We will walk anywhere from 2-5 miles. I love my time with my husband!

What is going on with us? Or, why I have not posted in 3 weeks..... Will defends his masters thesis on Wed, and then will graduate the following week. After three years, we are excited to see the fruit of his hard work! I have only 6 more days of work; I will go to school for my last day on Monday, May 4. I have absolutely loved my job, but I am getting excited to see what life is going to look like with my husband and baby here in Raleigh. Will and I are also (along with the other chaos) in the middle of looking for a house in Raleigh. We look forward to some time in July....Will comes to his house after work to greet his wife and daughter. We walk our neighborhood with the baby in the stroller and then go home and put her to bed and just enjoy a settled life......or at least that is the image we are working toward.

How would you answer these...?

Disclaimer: remember that Monday and Tuesday of last week were the make-up snow days. The entire school may have had 40% attendance. Because of that, none of us teachers really planned the entire 90 minutes full of curriculum-based stuff. With that said, these are some of the questions the students asked me on Tuesday (only 9 students there, but all 9 totally enrapt).

I think the questions started when I reminded them that I will only be there for three weeks after Spring Break. Insert this conversation:

"How big is the baby now?"
Probably around 5lb. For the most part the baby is ready to come whenever she wants to; her lungs will finish developing and she will just put on weight from here on out.

"You mean babies have organs when they are born?"
uuuhhhh, yeah
"Does that mean they have bones too?"

"What if your baby wants to come out feet first?"
"If your baby had come really early, and they are still so small that early on, why don't they just push the baby back in there?"

[at least the girl did pause before asking me the next question, like would this be appropriate]
"Can you have sex when you are pregnant?"
"If you have sex with a different boy, does that mess up the baby?" (a boy asked that question as the follow-up)

Maybe I need to start reminding my students that I am math-certified.

Shelby girls

How many aunts can one girl have?!
My high school girls have been my family for at least 12 years now. I can't imagine a big (or small) life event without them. We missed you guys who couldn't be here!

Family Resemblance Part 2

My mom and sister are truly the best!

Thanks for all the support for me and Anna Kate!
I know she is going to adore her grandma and aunt!
