One of the fun things about this summer has been sleepovers. The sleepover season was kicked off with these 5 at the Brown's house. I love these grins, absolutely genuine!
The next weekend these two got to spend the night with their Aunt Amanda and Uncle Anthony. They felt so big, getting to spend the night away with their aunt and uncle. They had the best idea; Amanda and Anthony collected a bunch of boxes. Then they spent the whole morning turning the boxes into thrones for the king and queen, and into a swimming pool, and into a stage for Cinderella.
Sleepovers for the kids means date nights and date mornings for mom and dad! Mornings have been my favorite part. The first morning we woke up, ate a quick breakfast, and then took our cup of coffee on a long walk through the neighborhood. Then wandered through the flea market until we picked up our littles.
The second morning we got up and were at Krispy Kreme by 7:35! A couple hot fresh doughnuts. Then a long walk through downtown. Quiet long walks with my man and hot coffee...there is no better morning!
The next sleep over was with my friend! LeAnne, my best friend from college and roommate from my single years in Raleigh. She and her husband live in Texas now and we don't see each other nearly enough. We got to spend a day and a half together and it was wonderful!!
LeAnne and Anna-Kate spent one afternoon creating a fairy house. It took AK about 24 hours to ask when LeAnne gets to come back!
We took LeAnne to see the new and improved Pullen Park
We all loved that part!
Such great friends for 14 years now
Then it was our turn to host the cousins. I loved the sweet excitement of these two first thing in the morning.
Of course it rained. With 5 cousins plus 1 neighbor, not being able to go outside was not the best timing! Luckily, the idea came up to make a zoo. All 6 kids got excitedly involved.
Benjamin and Evelyn created the seascape with lots of blue water and then sea creature stickers.
The big four created a bat cave, the sign for the zoo, a butterfly garden
Then they used every pillow in the house to create caves to be animals' homes. Many stuffed lived in those caves. The sleeping bags were more water. One side for swimming, one side for the animals
There was even a picnic area in the far corner, with popcorn popped as snacks for the tourists. Loved their creativity!
This wasn't really a sleepover but it was a fun moment: my parents came for a visit. Gramps got so excited to ride the train through the [Cary] mall!
So much summer fun!
